Kehä
A small private circle of interesting people in Helsinki.
Four good evenings a year, with some runs, swims and rides in between. Made for good company and a good time. Not for business.
Kehä is Finnish for “ring”, as in Helsinki’s ring roads: a circle you keep coming back round to. It is a working name, and the group can choose its own.
Why
Most of us know many people and few of them well. The conversations worth having tend not to happen at events or in group chats. They happen when the same small group meets again and again, over a long dinner, with no agenda. Kehä is exactly that, kept small and light on purpose.
How it works
Four dinners a year. Planned for March, June, September and November. Each lasts about three hours. Members host in turns, in a place they love. There is one question for the table, then dinner, then an honest round in which everyone says what is really going on. Each person also names one thing they need and one thing they can offer.
In between, optional moves. Runs, swims, rides, saunas and walks. Anyone can call one in the group chat, and whoever feels like it comes.
One WhatsApp group. For plans and banter. Nothing sensitive goes in it.

The dinners are the fixed points. Optional moves, such as a swim, a ride, a sauna or a run, fill the gaps, and the group chooses them as it goes.
Who it is for
Interesting people, whatever they do. There are no titles and no revenue bar, and no one is sorted into a category. We look for people who are generous, discreet and direct, and who show up.
Size. Between 5 and 12 people. Dinners seat 5 to 10, and the moves have no limit.
What a dinner is like
The host reads one question, and everyone answers. For example:
- What did you change your mind about this year?
- What are you proud of that nobody asks about?
- If you had a free year and no money worries, what would you do?
Five simple rules
- What’s said at dinners stays there.
- Show up, or say so in good time.
- Say what’s really going on. Share experience, not instructions.
- If you offer help, deliver it within two weeks.
- No selling or pitching. Business outside the room is fine. If you have a stake in something, say so.
What it costs
Your share of each dinner, roughly €50 to 90 a head, settled on the night.
There is no membership fee. Nobody earns anything from Kehä, including the organiser.
Questions you might have
Is this networking? Not the business-card kind. It is the same small group, four evenings a year, which is how people actually get to know each other.
Do I have to come to everything? No. Come to what you can. The dinners matter most, and the moves are just for fun.
Is it confidential? Yes. Dinner conversations are not repeated outside, and we say so out loud at the first dinner.
Can I bring someone? To a run or a swim, yes. For dinners, we start with the founding group, and later members join by being brought along by someone in it.
How to join
We are forming the founding group this autumn, with the first dinner planned for March 2027.
If this sounds like your kind of evening, tell the person who gave you this page. We will have a coffee, add you to the chat, and fix the dates together. And if you know someone who should be in the room, say so. It is the best compliment this idea can get.
